How do you burn a downloaded movie to a DVD?

alright, so here I go:

I have a burner- CDBurnerXP
I have a Video converter to convert a vid to an mpeg2 of whatever---
AnyVideoConverter
I have this thingy called DVD FLICK

So now can someone PLEASE tell me STEP BY STEP how to burn a
downloaded vid from the internet that I CAN WATCH ON MY TELEVISION.
I'll appreciate it if you can tell me EVERYTHING very clearly. I'm so
exhausted from trying. I'm not a techy person so I need baby language
to understand stuff bout this.

So far, every time I burn something and pop it into my VCR, it always
reads "NO SUPPORT" on the little screen thing and on my tv, it says
"THIS DISC IS INCOMPATIBLE"

btw, dont tell me to download something that costs. And no free trials
either---the watermarks are so ******* annoying
